Reality

These foolish eyes are quick to claim
the truth of what they see.
I chatter, madly, about all I know
with my naked eyes and refined language.

What if, perhaps, these naked eyes were intended
to capture mere doorways and passages
navigating me into a much larger, deeper realm?
What if, what I define as a lovely whole
is merely a blurry, thin slice of a much larger Reality?

Oh Divine One, open these infant eyes.
Quiet the knowing intelligence.
Instill in me the sense of wonder,
a child’s embrace of Mystery.
Oh Divine One, open me to Reality.

Twenty-two images (17 different ones) and any others "you" might see!
Proportions are intentionally "off" -- another question of "reality". This piece was hand built in water-based clay using a coiling technique. It was then molded and cast using the lost wax process.

A mark resembling a cursive "Z" couples Carol’s signature on all her work. This mark is symbolic of the Spirit or Wind always moving within and around us. It is her way of remembering and acknowledging that she never creates alone.
