Carol O'Malia

Carol O’Malia’s imagery portrays both the stark beauty of nature and objects and evokes, among other things, a sense of calm within the isolation. One of the ways she does this is to focus on abstraction within the landscape. At first glance, her paintings are soft depictions of snow landscaped, dappled with sunlight and patterned with shadows. A closer look, however, reveals a deep well of emotion lurking just beneath the seemingly calm surface.

Ms. O’Malia received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. Her public exhibitions include the Fitchburg Art Museum, Art Complex Museum Duxbury, and the American Textile History Museum.
